Tree of Life Black Edition

KERBEDANZ has given to this magnificent piece of jewelry the name of "Tree of Life" - as a symbol of immortality.

The symbol of the Tree of Life is universal and it exists everywhere on five continents, in all the great spiritual traditions of humanity. Its sacred symbolic probably dates back to the origins of humanity. This explains undoubtedly why this symbol is a motif of predilection for artists, painters, sculptors, engravers, mosaic artists...

The Tree of Life is a symbol of physical and spiritual growth because of its expanding branches reaching to the sky, while its roots plunge deep into the ground. So it unites these two worlds, the heaven and the earth. The roots in the ground, the head, the foliage in the sky, it stands to the divinity; it is an image of the man seeking its verticality in the divine.

But the Tree of Life is also, because of the constantly returning cycle of its fruit and its foliage, the symbol of death and rebirth, where the Life and the Immortality always overcome the death. It takes us, pulls us to this immortality of the divine life, which exists in its fruits.

The Tree of Life has as a sap the celestial Dew, and its fruits, jealously defended, transmit a parcel of immortality. In the Garden of Eden, its fruits are twelve in number, like the twelve zodiacal signs symbolizing the cosmic renewal.

In both East and West, the Tree of Life is often reversed. This reversal, according to the Vedic texts, may come from a certain conception of the role of the Sun and the Light in the growth of beings: it is indeed from upward that comes the light of life and it tries to penetrate down. This is from where comes this reversal of images: the branches function as roots by drawing the celestial Dew, the roots play the role of branches by spreading this Dew (the Life) over this world. So the Life comes from the Heaven and penetrates the Earth, confirming this expression of Dante from The Divine Comedy about the inverted Tree "it is a tree which lives from its top".
