POLVS ARCTICUS

KERBEDANZ gave this extraordinary unique masterpiece of traditional horology, the Latin name for "Polvs Arcticus" in homage to the erudite astronomers of past centuries, creators of navigation instruments of refined precision.

This unique piece in solid white gold, animated by a mechanical double tourbillon movement, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, wears a solid gold dial exceptional dial. It is decorated with marine navigation patterns, representing a navigation compass and a galleon from the time of “the great discoveries” and two amazing hemispheres covering the cages of two tourbillons.

The tourbillon in the north, represents the northern hemisphere of the Earth seen from the pole, showing the visible parts of the continents engraved in solid gold and laid on a background with blue transparent grand-feu enamel.

The southern hemisphere tourbillon, an astrolabe engraved in solid gold, represents the celestial sphere. The astrolabe is an instrument of astronomical calculation, among other multiple functions, determines the exact time of sunrise, sunset or meridian passage of a star - very useful navigation data. Already used by the ancient Greeks, the astrolabe has subsequently been further refined and developed by scholars of the Islamic world of the 15th and 16th centuries.

18K white gold, 50mm, set with 80 baguette diamonds of 6.72 carats. Designed and manufactured by Kerbedanz. Sapphire crystal and case back with anti-reflective treatment. Water-resistant 5 atm. Crown situated in the east, at 3h00.

Massive gold engraved. The northern globe is conceived with a bed of enamel grand-feu of 0.1mm thickness, holding northern hemisphere in solid gold embossed, with a total thickness of 0.3mm. The southern globe represents an astrolabe in solid gold. Exclusively designed, manufactured, enameled and decorated by KERBEDANZ.
